what are qualified as CSR projects is specified in schedule VII by Govt CSR project must serve the under privilaged class of society
Eradicating hunger, poverty, malnutrition, promoting healthcare including preventive health care, sanitation, making available safe drinking water. Promoting education, including special education, employment enhancing vocation skills among children , women, elderly, differently abled and livelihood enhancing projects.
Promoting gender equality, empowering women, setting up homes, hostels for women, orphans, old age homes, day care centers for senior citizens and measures for reducing inequalities faced by socially and economically backward groups Ensuring environmental sustainability, ecological balance, protection of flora, fauna, animal welfare, agroforestry, conservation of natural resources, and maintaining quality of soil, air water.
Protection of national heritage , art , culture, restoration of building, sites of historical importance, works of art, setting up public libraries , promotion of traditional handicraft, Measures to benefit armed forces veterans, war widows, and their dependents as you can notice, that so many laudable projects, (solar energy, tree plantation, etc ) do not qualify as CSR projects .
Board has to identify a project , in line with what is approved as CSR project Place where this will be implented and timelines needs to be decided by Board of directors of company Once a project is identified, the company needs to appoint a registered trust more than 3 years old, needs to be appointed as Implementing agency for the project
