SLK Foundation
SLK Foundation is more than 25 years old registered charitable trust, with a mission statement – “Creating Wealth from Waste“. SLK Foundation is named after Late S.L Kirloskar, doyen of the Kirloskar group, to commemorate his memory. Pankaj Narayan Pandit, is founder and managing trustee of SLK Foundation. SLK Foundation has no connection whatsoever with the Kirloskar group.
SLK Foundation intends to be the best-managed non profit organization, ensuring maximum returns to “mother nature”. As per Peter Drucker, “The best-managed non profit is better managed than the best-managed corporation”, as the non profit organization has no selfish profit motive to guide their strategies.
SLK Foundation is committed to be a channel in building awareness about environmental issues. We wish to enroll entire communities in solving many problems using nature friendly technologies for Solid Waste (Garbage) disposal, Renewable Power, Solutions for Water treatment, Ecological Sanitation, Practical Green Building Architecture, Tree plantation, Seed banks, and finally human health and well being.
As per Deepak Chopra, changing awareness about an issue is the key. People act in wrongful ways, often out of ignorant beliefs. Through awareness , human behavior can change for betterment of our planet. SLK Foundation used All India Radio to broadcast over 50 talks in radio program named ”Parisar”, to create awareness on environmental issues such as household garbage, Recycling water, Challenges of urbanization and other choices of sustainable lifestyle.
SLK Foundation believes that the omnipresent, omnipotent forces of nature can be harnessed to nurse our ailing planet back to health.

He is founder and managing trustee of SLK Foundation, with mission statement; Creating wealth from waste. SLK Foundation was set up as a public charitable trust in 1996. Since then, SLK Foundation has been popularizing zero waste garbage concept through media. The other two managing trustees of SLK Foundation are Mrs. Vijaya Narayan Pandit and Mrs Manjiri Pankaj Pandit.
Pankaj has written over 50 talks for All India Radio’s program on environment, called Parisar. These talks covered topics on sustainable living, environmental aspects of urbanization, aerobic composting technology, social forestry, transportation issues etc. Pankaj has published numerous articles in business newspapers, seminars on Urbanization, Carbon Credits and Use of nature’s forces for finding solution to problem of global warming.
Pankaj is Electrical Engineer (B.E.) from VJTI and MMS (Finance) from NMIMS. Pankaj works as senior management position in a IT company in professional capacity.
In March 2009, SLK Foundation sponsored art exhibition at Chitrakala Parishat, Karnataka, Bangalore with “The Bombay Art Society”. The objective of the art show was to raise funds for trust and building awareness about concept of zero waste garbage. SLK Foundation has successfully implemented “Zero Waste Garbage” solution in couple of societies in Bangalore, Mumbai. SLK Foundation has set following targets now.

- Give tri cycles, Uniforms to rag-pickers.
Design, Develop, install Mobile trolley mounted dry toilets for use in cities (Example pilgrims at Pandharpur, Maharashtra)
Create Nature Parks (Vrindavans, Nandanvans) where composting techniques , DEWATS for sewage treatment will be used in addition to planting Indian tress.

Keep wet Organic waste separate and Compost in your house this using process described on slk foundation’s website http://slkfoundation.in/
Recycle all plastic waste; Give once a month to nearest rag picker.
Water all house plants, on kitchen waste water. It does not clog drains.
Conserve water Use recycled/used such as washing machine soapy water for cleaning car, cleaning flooring.
Collect seeds of traditional Indian trees for a seed bank.
Make saplings from such seeds to plant.
Do not use any pesticides in house as they are poisonous.
Use less of electric power, avoid microwave ovens , use less of petroleum products.
Do not pollute water by immersing idols, flowers in rivers, lakes.
Celebrate Holi festival with natural colors, Diwali without crackers.
